XII Edition of the Mostra de Culines de Calvià

The Mostra de Cuines will take place every Friday in April in a different area of the municipality of Calvià, starting April 5th in Paguera, Cala Fornells, El Toro, Calvià and Es Capdellà. Every Friday in April various restaurants in the municipality take part and will serve a complete menu at reasonable prices. Menus with starter, main course and dessert from 12 to 16 euros.

This year, the students of the Hotel and Tourism Department of the IES Calvià (Instituto de Educación Secundaria) were responsible for contributing their own idea to the Mostra de Cuines de Calvià. The dish prepared by IES Calvià is an aguiat de pilotes de bacallà (cod and meatball stew).

The Mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, emphasized that the aim of the event was to mark the beginning of the tourist season, as it is a tradition that allows tourists to discover the culinary offer of the municipality. In addition, it is of course also an opportunity for the residents of the municipality to enjoy the regional cuisine at very competitive prices.

The participating restaurants serve a complete menu at reasonable prices (12, 14 or 16 euros). To make the Mostra de Cuines an event that can be attended by as many people as possible, restaurants have been encouraged to offer alternative menus at the same price: children's menus, gluten-free and vegetarian menus.

This year, 50 restaurants are taking part. Below an overview:

  • Friday 5 April: the area of Peguera, Cala Fornells and El Toro with 9 participating restaurants.
  • Friday 12 April: Illetas, Cas Català, Bendinat, Portals Nous, Costa d'en Blanes and Son Caliu, with 8 participating restaurants.
  • Friday 19 April (Easter): Palmanova, Magaluf, Son Ferrer and Sol de Mallorca area with 19 participating restaurants.
  • Friday 26 April: Santa Ponsa, Son Bugadelles and Costa de la Calma, with 14 participating restaurants.

The Mostra de Cuines de Calvià, which has existed in its present form since 2008 and aims to promote the cuisine of the municipality, is organized annually in April and October, coinciding with the beginning and end of the tourist season.
